Amazon to Let Music Fans Trade CDs for Store Credit

Used CDs have just been added to the list of goods accepted by Amazon.com's Trade-In program, Smartmoney reports. On Wednesday, the online retail giant announced that users can mail in used CDs in exchange for store credit. Amazon's trade-in program has previously accepted a variety of media and electronics including books, movies and video games. The site collects eligible used titles from customers and resells them to third-party merchants.

If anything, Amazon's new CD trade-in program underscores impressions of the compact disc format's declining value. According to the site's estimates, a used copy of Madonna's new album, MDNA, will trade for up to $5 – a little more than enough to buy five tracks from the album on Amazon MP3 – while Skrillex's Bangarang nets a measly 65 cents.

'Mad Men' Version of 'Zou Bisou Bisou' in iTunes Store

A recording of the Sixties French pop "Zou Bisou Bisou" sung by actress Jessica Paré from last night's season premiere of Mad Men has been released as a download in the iTunes store. A limited edition seven-inch single of the recording is being sold through the Mad Men website, and the song will also be available as a download through Amazon later this week, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Paré's performance of the song as Megan Draper, Don Draper's young new wife, was a highlight of the two-hour episode. In the scene, Megan sings the song with a band of Sixties hipsters at a surprise birthday party for her husband, who can barely suppress his embarrassment and discomfort. The song was a hit for French singer Gillian Hills and was sung by Sophia Loren in the 1960 film The Millionairess.

You can watch a clip of Paré's rendition of the song on the show below, though keep in mind that this video was made by a fan filming their television, so everything is just a bit off.

Flaming Lips Collaborate With Famous 'Fwends' on Record Store Day Exclusive

The Flaming Lips have teamed up with a variety of artists including Ke$ha, Bon Iver, Yoko Ono, My Morning Jacket, Nick Cave, Erykah Badu and Chris Martin of Coldplay for The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends, a limited edition double album that will be released exclusively through retailers participating in Record Store Day on April 21st.

The set, which will only be issued as a double multi-colored vinyl set, includes previously released tracks that have appeared on the band's recent EPs. The band claims there will only be one pressing of the set, so hardcore Lips fans ought to get to their local shop early unless they're ready to spend big bucks landing a copy on eBay.
