Kenny Chesney Leads 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards Nominations

Kenny Chesney is the top nominee at the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, with nine nods including Entertain of the Year, a category he has won four times since 2004. The singer is also up Male Vocalist of the Year and as both artist and producer for Album of the Year for Hemingway's Whiskey.

Jason Aldean is the second most-nominated artist, with nods for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year and Single Record of the Year for "Don't You Wanna Stay," his hit duet with Kelly Clarkson. Lady Antebellum is just behind Aldean with five nominations, including Vocal Group of the Year, which they have won the past two years. Taylor Swift leads in the female categories with three nominations overall, including her third consecutive nomination as Entertainer of the Year.

The ACM awards ceremony will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 1st on CBS. The show will be hosted by Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire.

Oscars 2012: 'The Artist' and 'Hugo' Lead 84th Annual Academy Award Nominations

Martin Scorsese's 3D picture Hugo and Michel Hazanavicius's silent film The Artist lead the nominations in the 84th Academy Awards, with both movies up for Best Picture and Best Director, among other awards. Other top Oscar nominees include The Descendants, up for Best Picture, Director and Best Actor for George Clooney, and Moneyball, which got nods for Best Picture and Best Actor for Brad Pitt. Meryl Streep, Viola Davis and Glenn Close all received nominations for Best Actress as widely anticipated, along with Rooney Mara for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Michelle Williams for My Week with Marilyn.

Perhaps the most surprising nomination is Melissa McCarthy, who is being honored for her broad, hilarious supporting role in hit comedy Bridesmaids. Fellow comic actor Jonah Hill is also up for a supporting actor nomination, but for his dramatic turn opposite Pitt in Moneyball.

Adele, Coldplay and Florence and the Machine are among the top nominated artists for the 2012 BRIT Awards, the British record industry's equivalent to the Grammys. The 32nd annual awards show will be held in London on February 21st.

Adele, who scored the top-selling album in her native U.K. in 2011, is up for Best British Album of the Year for 21, as well as Best British Female Solo Artist and Best British Single of the Year for "Someone Like You." Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto is also nominated in the best album category, and the band is in the running for Best British Group. Noel Gallagher, James Blake, Jessie J, Anna Calvi, Elbow, Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian are also nominated in various categories, and Britpop heroes Blur will be honored with a lifetime achievement award.

Though the BRIT Awards are designed to honor talent from the U.K., a handful of North American acts – including Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Foo Fighters and Maroon 5 – were nominated in the show's international categories.
