Flashback: Clapton Performs 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' at Concert for George

Exactly one year after George Harrison died, a jaw-dropping lineup of musicians gathered at London's Royal Albert Hall to honor his lifetime of work. The Concert for George featured performances by Tom Petty, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne, Ravi Shankar, Billy Preston, Dhani Harrison and many others. (The only notable absence was Bob Dylan.) Near the end of the show, Clapton lead the house band on a stunning performance of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." With McCartney on piano, Ringo (among many others) on drums, Preston on organ and Clapton re-creating his guitar parts from the original, it was the closest thing possible to a Beatles reunion.

Guitar Auction to Benefit Dio Cancer Fund

More than 100 guitars signed by musicians including Eddie Van Halen, Tom Morello, Slash, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden, Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers will be auctioned on December 1st to benefit the Dio Cancer Fund, a charity established in remembrance of Ronnie James Dio, the Los Angeles Times reports. The guitars include special instruments, like the Eddie Van Halen-signed prototype electric guitar made specifically for him. A custom hand-carved guitar made by DBZ guitars and signed by Dio is also up for grabs.

Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills will hold the auction and will preview the items on November 19th. Some of the musicians who signed and donated guitars are expected to attend. Bowling Green, Kentucky-based Sleeper Agent had a busy 2011. In addition to heavy touring, they released their debut album Celabrasion in September, were named one of Rolling Stone's Bands to Watch, had their track "Get It Daddy" appear in Rolling Stone's Top 50 Singles of 2011 list, and were named by Rolling Stone readers as the #2 new band of the year.

Celabrasion features the upbeat track "Get Burned" which has the strong guitar riffs and power pop hooks that catapulted the band into the public eye. Guitarist and vocalist Tony Smith explains that their catchy track "Get Burned" is very emblematic of the band – and was written very quickly. "Within a matter of minutes in early 2010, 'Get Burned' started as a riff that wouldn't die," he says. "The lyrics were improvised in the studio minutes before the vocals were tracked."

While the track has a universally understood message of friendship, it's also taken on a more personal meaning for the band. "'Get Burned is a tug-of-war tune about the ebb and flow of conflicts in a friendship," Smith says. "It's a song that's from the gut and represents our playful chemistry and spontaneous work ethic. It turned out to be one of the catchiest songs on Celabrasion, and it's one of those songs we never get tired of playing night after night."

Sleeper Agent's Celabrasion is available now, but you can download "Get Burned" for free here.
