Lenny Kravitz Drops Out of Marvin Gaye Biopic

Lenny Kravitz has dropped out of the long-anticipated Marvin Gaye biopic Sexual Healing, to be replaced by Law & Order alumnus Jesse L. Martin. 

Directed by Julien Temple, the film has long been in the works, but is finally set to begin filming later this month in Europe, Deadline Hollywood reports. Martin, who also appeared in the stage and film version of the musical Rent, was actually attached to star in a previous version of the film being produced by James Gandolfini back in 2008.

No word was given for why Kravitz has bowed out, though news last November that the rocker would be portraying Gaye reportedly led to objections from the singer's son,  Marvin Gaye III, who threatened legal action if Kravitz did not drop out. 

Sexual Healing reportedly focuses on Gaye's time in Europe during the 1980s as he attempted to curb his addictions and re-start his career with the help of British promoter Freddy Cousaert, who will be played by Brendan Gleason.

Ashton Kutcher has dashing good looks, but how well can he pull off a black turtleneck? The Two and a Half Men actor will star as Steve Jobs in jOBS, a biopic about the visionary Apple co-founder. In this clip, Jobs talks with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, played by 1600 Penn's Josh Gad, about their new computer. Wozniak shows reluctance, but Jobs is incredibly excited about the innovation, convinced everyone will want it. "You can see what you're working on while you're working on it," says Jobs. If it were only that simple.

jOBS is set for an April 19th opening. Aaron Sorkin is also also penning his own Steve Jobs biopic, centering around only three key scenes from Jobs' life.

Ashton Kutcher Cast in Steve Jobs Biopic

Ashton Kutcher has signed on to play Apple icon Steve Jobs in a forthcoming biopic called Jobs, Variety reports. The film, to be directed by Joshua Michael Stern from a script by Matt Whiteley, will tell the story of Jobs' life from his time as a hippie on through the founding of Apple.

The indie film is schedule to begin production in May when Kutcher is on hiatus from his sitcom, Two and a Half Men. Jobs will be the first of what could become a wave of films based on the Apple founder. Sony Pictures is currently developing its own Jobs picture based on Walter Isaacson's recent biography, Steve Jobs.
