Rick Springfield Pleads No Contest to Charge in DUI Arrest

rick springfield

Rick Springfield has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor reckless driving charge "with driving under the influence conditions," The Associated Press reports. Though the "Jessie's Girl" singer was originally charged with drunken driving, the new charge does not mention alcohol impairment. Springfield was not present at the hearing yesterday, with his attorney Philip Cohen submitting the plea.

Springfield was arrested in May 2011 after the police spotted him speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway in his 1963 Corvette. He received three years of informal probation and must attend a three-month alcohol education program.

Roc-A-Fella Co-Founder Pleads Guilty of Drug Trafficking

Roc-A-Fella co-founder Kareem "Biggs" Burke is facing a minimum of five years behind bars for conspiracy to distribute more than 1,000 kilos of marijuana. The figure was reduced to 100 kilograms as part of a plea deal in which he agreed to forfeit $660,000 in cash, his house in North Bergen, New Jersey and a 2010 BMW 750. Burke will be sentenced on May 18th.

Burke, who co-founded Roc-A-Fella with Jay-Z and Damon Dash in the Nineties but left the company in 2004, was busted with more than 50 others in a federal drug sting called Operation Green Venom.
