Billy Corgan has been busy with the Smashing Pumpkins' reissue of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and cutting promo ads for furniture stores with his wrestling company; now he'll hit the road in the spring. After playing Cumbre Tajin Festival in Mexico on March 23rd, the Smashing Pumpkins will kick off their tour on April 29th at Melbourne, Florida's King Center for the Performing Arts. They'll wrap up their U.S. dates on May 18th at Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio.

The Rolling Stones' '50 and Counting' shows in London and New York last year were some of their tightest shows in years. "There have been quite a few offers," Mick Jagger said afterward, weighing a full tour. Added Keith Richards, "Really, all you're going to have to do is wait for an announcement."

The wait will be over soon. A concert business source confirms to Rolling Stone the band is planning 18 concerts in North America this year. Billboard also reported yesterday the band will play "fewer than 20" dates in North America, with Australian promoter Paul Dainty and Virgin music promoting the tour (the team also promoted the '50 and Counting' run). "May 2nd is the launch day," says another source. "I've heard West Coast cities – L.A. And Seattle. But I think they're going to do some back East as well."

Rare and Intimate Pictures of the Rolling Stones

It would be the band's first tour since 2005-2007's A Bigger Bang, and, if the '50 and Counting' shows were any indication, the band is even more adventurous these days. Last year they performed with former members Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman, invited guests like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck and played rarities like "Around and Around" and "I Wanna Be Your Man."

It's looking likely U.K. fans won't miss out on the Stones this summer. When MTV News UK asked Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno if his set at the Hard Rock Calling festival on June 29th will be the most talked-about performance of the weekend, he replied, "Yes, that would be a miracle because The Rolling Stones are playing Glastonbury. I can imagine there will be a lot of people there waiting for them."

MGMT Plot Spring Tour of North America

The tour kicks off April 26th in State College, Pennsylvania, and continues through May 18th at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, with a scattering of festival dates in June and July. The pre-sale for some shows starts Wednesday at noon local time. The band is also planning a special Record Store Day release on April 20th, though they haven't said what it will be.

500 Greatest Albums of All Time: MGMT, 'Oracular Spectacular'

The duo of Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden expect to release their third album in June. Rather than record with a full band this time, the pair holed up with producer Dave Fridmann and a roomful of synthesizers in his western New York studio to work on the album, which they say will be weirder than their 2010 release Congratulations. "We're not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it," Goldwasser recently told Rolling Stone.

The Temper Trap Announce North American Tour

Australian rockers the Temper Trap will launch a tour of North America in support of their second album, The Temper Trap, on June 5th at Terminal 5 in New York City. The band's new album, which was produced by Beck and Phoenix collaborator Tony Hoffer, will hit stores on the day of the tour kickoff.

"We’re really excited about the new songs and touring," Dougy Mandagi tells Rolling Stone. "I think playing live is what we do best, so fans can expect a very excited passionate band playing their fuckin' hearts out. There is a good balance of the things that have worked well in the past for us and new things that we’re trying out. There’s definitely more of a dynamic vocally for me, and each of us are taking on new instruments."

Mandagi is particularly enthused about returning to the States. "America is bar none our favorite place to tour," he says. "All the romantic notions that have been sung and written before about the road – faces peering out of diner windows and smoky New York dive bars – are all true. It's like stepping into a movie set everywhere you go. Americans are also so positive and nice, so being around them can be quite empowering."

The Temper Trap has expanded to a five-piece with the addition of keyboardist Joseph Greer as a full-time member, which Mandagi says will improve the group's dynamic onstage. "Joseph is our secret weapon," he says. "He’s a really good piano player, so any sappy piano ballad that we may potentially write from this point on will totally be his fault."

The Temper Trap Announce North American Tour

Australian rockers the Temper Trap will launch a tour of North America in support of their second album, The Temper Trap, on June 5th at Terminal 5 in New York City. The band's new album, which was produced by Beck and Phoenix collaborator Tony Hoffer, will hit stores on the day of the tour kickoff.

"We’re really excited about the new songs and touring," Dougy Mandagi tells Rolling Stone. "I think playing live is what we do best, so fans can expect a very excited passionate band playing their fuckin' hearts out. There is a good balance of the things that have worked well in the past for us and new things that we’re trying out. There’s definitely more of a dynamic vocally for me, and each of us are taking on new instruments."

Mandagi is particularly enthused about returning to the States. "America is bar none our favorite place to tour," he says. "All the romantic notions that have been sung and written before about the road – faces peering out of diner windows and smoky New York dive bars – are all true. It's like stepping into a movie set everywhere you go. Americans are also so positive and nice, so being around them can be quite empowering."

The Temper Trap has expanded to a five-piece with the addition of keyboardist Joseph Greer as a full-time member, which Mandagi says will improve the group's dynamic onstage. "Joseph is our secret weapon," he says. "He’s a really good piano player, so any sappy piano ballad that we may potentially write from this point on will totally be his fault."
