Andy Samberg has gotten engaged to singer-songwriter and harpist Joanna Newsom, Us Weekly reports. The 34 year-old Saturday Night Live alumnus and 31 year-old indie-folk musician have been together for five years.

Samberg was known for his digital shorts on SNL, which often included appearances from stars including Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga and, memorably, Michael Bolton in drag. Since leaving the show after last season, Samberg, a Berkeley native, has been starring in the BBC Three sitcom Cuckoo, and starred alongside Rashida Jones in last year's Celeste and Jesse Forever.

Newsom has released three studio albums, starting with her 2004 debut The Milk-Eyed Mender. Her most recent album, 2010's Have One on Me, was a three-disc affair that stretched past two hours.

Avril Lavigne Engaged to Nickelback Singer Chad Kroeger

Avril Lavigne is engaged to Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger after a six-month courtship they kept largely out of view, US Weekly reports.

Their relationship started innocuously when Lavigne, 27, got together with Kroeger, 37, earlier this year to write songs for her upcoming fifth album. At the time, she tweeted a photo of Kroeger playfully hugging her, captioned, "Bro'ing out with Chad Kroeger in the studio." What began as a working collaboration grew into romance, and Kroeger popped the question August 8th.

The marriage will be Kroeger's first and Lavigne's second. She filed for divorce from Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley in October 2009, and had dated The Hills star Brody Jenner for two years before they split in January. 

Lavgine's most recent album, Goodbye Lullaby, came out in 2011. Nickelback released their seventh album, Here and Now, the same year.
