Morrissey Cancels Remaining Tour Dates

Morrissey Morrissey performs at Mondavi Center.

Morrissey has cancelled all of the remaining dates on his North American tour as the result of a variety of medical ailments.

Over the last year, the 53-year-old singer has cancelled 21 shows after suffering from a bleeding ulcer and Barrett's esophagus. On Tuesday, he was hospitalized in San Francisco for double pneumonia.

"Despite his best efforts to try to continue touring, Morrissey has to take a hiatus and will not be able to continue on the rest of the tour," the singer's representative said in a statement. "Morrissey thanks all of his fans for their well wishes and thoughts."

Morrissey is canceling a total of 22 remaining dates, beginning with Monday's show in Lawrence, Kansas. Refunds for the tickets will be available at the point of purchase.

Rolling Stones Planning 18 North American Tour Dates: Source

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones in London, England. Jim Dyson/Redferns via Getty Images

The Rolling Stones' '50 and Counting' shows in London and New York last year were some of their tightest shows in years. "There have been quite a few offers," Mick Jagger said afterward, weighing a full tour. Added Keith Richards, "Really, all you're going to have to do is wait for an announcement."

The wait will be over soon. A concert business source confirms to Rolling Stone the band is planning 18 concerts in North America this year. Billboard also reported yesterday the band will play "fewer than 20" dates in North America, with Australian promoter Paul Dainty and Virgin music promoting the tour (the team also promoted the '50 and Counting' run). "May 2nd is the launch day," says another source. "I've heard West Coast cities – L.A. And Seattle. But I think they're going to do some back East as well."

Rare and Intimate Pictures of the Rolling Stones

It would be the band's first tour since 2005-2007's A Bigger Bang, and, if the '50 and Counting' shows were any indication, the band is even more adventurous these days. Last year they performed with former members Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman, invited guests like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck and played rarities like "Around and Around" and "I Wanna Be Your Man."

It's looking likely U.K. fans won't miss out on the Stones this summer. When MTV News UK asked Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno if his set at the Hard Rock Calling festival on June 29th will be the most talked-about performance of the weekend, he replied, "Yes, that would be a miracle because The Rolling Stones are playing Glastonbury. I can imagine there will be a lot of people there waiting for them."

Black Flag Reunite for Album, Live Dates

Greg Ginn and Ron Reyes of Black Flag in Vancouver, Canada.

Black Flag founder Greg Ginn has re-formed a version of the iconic hardcore group for a new album and a handful of live shows. He's not the only one: former Black Flag members Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski and Bill Stevenson are also touring, as Flag, with Descendents member Stephen Egerton.

Ginn's band, according to a statement, is "putting finishing touches on a new album" with singer Ron Reyes, drummer Gregory Moore and bassist Dale Nixon, a pseudonym for Ginn. It's unclear who will play bass when the band performs live. Gigs so far include headline slots May 18th at the Ruhrpott Rodeo in Germany; August 4th at Hevy Fest in the U.K.; and August 31st at the Muddy Roots Music Festival in Tennessee.

500 Greatest Albums of All Time: Black Flag, 'Damaged'

Morris' band is scheduled to perform April 26th at the Monster Bash in Munich, Germany. The singer also fronts Off! with Burning Brides frontman Dimitri Coats, Redd Kross bassist Steven Shane McDonald and Hot Snakes drummer Mario Rubalcaba.

Black Flag included more than a dozen members, including four singers, during a 10-year run between 1976-86, with Ginn being the only constant member. Morris was the group's original vocalist, followed by Reyes, Dez Cadena and Henry Rollins, who isn't involved in any of this year's Black Flag-related activities.

Apart from a brief reunion for three shows in 2003, Ginn's revival of the Black Flag lineup marks the band's first new activity since the mid-Eighties: a new album would be Black Flag's first collection of all-new material since 1985's In My Head.

There has been no word yet if Morris' Flag is recording or planning an album. Both bands plan to play additional shows in the U.S. and abroad.

Leonard Cohen Announces The First Dates Of His 2012 'Old Ideas' World Tour

leonard cohen Leonard Cohen performs in Victoria, Australia.

Leonard Cohen is launching a world tour behind his new LP Old Ideas in the Fall. So far, only European dates have been announced, but a press release says that "Leonard will return to North America this Fall, details to be announced soon." The first leg of the tour kicks off August 12th in Ghent, Belgium and wraps up October 7th in Lisbon, Portugal.

Cohen spoke to Rolling Stone in January, and indicated that he was conflicted about going back on the road. "A tour is being booked," he said. "I haven't signed up for it yet. I have two minds [about touring.] I don't like to do a small tour, so whether I'm going to sign up for another couple of years . . . is that really where I want to be? Touring is like taking the first step on a walk to China."

The 77- year-old singer-songwriter returned to the road in May of 2008 after a 15-year break. "I never thought I'd tour again, although I did have dreams," Cohen said.  "Sometimes my dreams would entail me being up on stage and not remembering the words or the chords. It had a nightmarish quality, which did not invite me to pursue the enterprise." But Cohen's finances took a downward turn in the early 2000s after a dispute with a former manager wiped out most of his life savings. "I was able to restore my tiny fortune within a year or so," Cohen said.  "But I kept on touring."

The tour ran for nearly 250 shows and took Cohen around the world many times over, wrapping up on December 11th, 2010 in Las Vegas. The highly acclaimed show regularly ran well over three hours a night. When the tour wrapped, he began work on Old Ideas with producer Patrick Leonard. The sessions were fruitful, and Cohen says he already had two-thirds of another album done.

Here are the dates for the Old Ideas World Tour 2012:

August 14th – Ghent, Belgium – St. Peter's Square

Aerosmith have announced dates for their 2012 Global Warming North American Tour, which will kick off on June 16th at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota and wrap up on August 8th in Tacoma, Washington – though more dates may be added. Cheap Trick will open for the band on all announced dates. Aerosmith last toured the United States in the summer of 2010.

"The old Aerosmith is back with a new vengeance and we will kick your ass and make out with your mothers," said frontman Steven Tyler in a statement.

Added bassist Tom Hamilton, "After touring Japan and South America last year we're psyched about bringing it all back for the hometown fans. We're going to break out the classics, the hits and maybe even some of the new ones we've been banging out in the studio.  Can't wait to get to Minneapolis."

Aerosmith has been working with producer Jack Douglas on a new LP that will reportedly be released in May. Last week, Joe Perry made a surprise appearance on American Idol to perform "Happy Birthday" for Tyler, indicating that he is more receptive to his bandmate's role as a judge on the show. "It's his business, but I don't want Aerosmith's name involved with it," Perry said. If the new Aerosmith album does come out in May, expect the band to debut their first single on the show.
