Deadmau5 Plans Break: 'I'm Basically Pretty Miserable Right Now'

Superstar DJ Deadmau5 plans to "unplug for a wee bit" and take some time off, he wrote in a post on his Tumblr.

"I'm basically pretty miserable right now," the Canadian producer wrote, "and need to pull the fuck back and figure out whatever the fuck it is I do." 

While Deadmau5 promised he won't cancel any scheduled shows and said he plans to still write and release new material, he noted, "I'm just gonna slam on the breaks for a bit and force myself to endure some quiet time." 

The post did mention an upcoming release – "heads up for something crazy real soon," he wrote – and Deadmau5 implied that the down time was necessary for work-related reasons: "best I just chill the fuck out a bit and just get it done, and get it done RIGHT, until I'm 100% satisfied with it." 

"Then our regularly scheduled program shall continue," he added.

The first single off the bluesy Slipstream is her reggae-inspired take on Gerry Rafferty's "Right Down The Line," which Raitt says she recorded because she loves "that nexus where reggae and rock meet."

"I've always been a big Gerry Rafferty fan. I heard the song 'Right Down the Line' come on the radio a few years ago and the guitar came to me like a lighting bolt," she tells Rolling Stone. "Gerry was such a soulful and unique artist and I'm very sorry he passed before he could hear our version of his song."

Singer-songwriter Anthony Green will release his solo record Beautiful Things January 17th on Photo Finish. Deftones frontman Chino Moreno joins Green on the catchy "Right Outside," which is a bonus track on the digital release of Beautiful Things.

"Right Outside" was a collaboration between the two artists, as Moreno wrote some parts of the track, which, as Anthony Green mentions, was a surprise. "I wrote the song after I listened to the Crosses EP over and over, thinking of Chino and inspired by him, so I couldn't believe it when he agreed to sing on it and wrote some parts," Green says. "It was a dream come true to work with him."

Anthony Green's Beautiful Things will be released on January 17th, but you can exclusively stream the bonus track "Right Outside" for free at RollingStone.com.
