Rick Springfield has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor reckless driving charge "with driving under the influence conditions," The Associated Press reports. Though the "Jessie's Girl" singer was originally charged with drunken driving, the new charge does not mention alcohol impairment. Springfield was not present at the hearing yesterday, with his attorney Philip Cohen submitting the plea.
Springfield was arrested in May 2011 after the police spotted him speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway in his 1963 Corvette. He received three years of informal probation and must attend a three-month alcohol education program.
