Jet Call It Quits

Jet perform at the Astra Club in Berlin, Germany.

Australian rockers Jet announced that they broke up yesterday in a message on their official website. "After many successful years of writing, recording and touring we wish to announce our discontinuation as a group," the group wrote in a brief post. "From the many pubs, theatres, stadiums and festivals all across the world it was the fans that made our amazing story possible and we wish to thank them all."

The band formed in 2001 and released their debut, Get Born, in October of 2003. That set went platinum in the United States and United Kingdom and eight times platinum in their native Australia on the strength of "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?," their biggest hit. The group released two other albums, Shine On in 2006 and Shaka Rock in 2009, which were both modestly successful.

You can watch the band perform "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" before a wildly enthusiastic audience at the Fuji Rock Festival in 2004 below.
