Carrie Brownstein to Write a Memoir

It's a busy year in books for Portlandia star Carrie Brownstein. The New York Times is reporting that the Wild Flag singer and guitarist has signed with Riverhead Press to write a memoir centered around her life in music and the Olympia, Washington scene that spawned her well-loved previous band, Sleater-Kinney.

Just last month, the news surfaced that an imprint of Hachette has engaged Brownstein and her sketch comedy partner Fred Armisen to write a parody travel book based on their hit IFC show. Portlandia: A Guide for Visitors is due out November 20th. 

Brownstein has been in the words business since before Sleater-Kinney disbanded, interviewing actors and musicians (including Eddie Vedder) for the The Believer magazine and reviewing video games for Slate. She also wrote the "Monitor Mix" blog for NPR from 2007 to 2010. In her final post for the blog, she announced that she was working on The Sound of Where You Are, a book about the music industry to be published by Ecco/Harper Collins. 

No date for the unnamed memoir's publication has been set.
