A judge has dismissed concert promoter AEG Live from a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Michael Jackson's father. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos agreed with AEG lawyers who said Joe Jackson should have joined a separate suit filed by his wife, Katherine.
The judge clarified that the law does not favor multiple suits by individual heirs, and that if Joe Jackson's lawsuit against AEG Live were to go forward, it would "contravene the purpose of the one-action rule." Complicating matters, AEG Live also successfully argued that the singer's father is not a legitimate heir to his fortune, since he was not mentioned in the King of Pop's will.
